Lidkid

Questions, answered

Sydney's daily walking game, explained.

What is Lidkid?

A daily walking game set on real Sydney streets. Each day you answer six questions about cafes, food, drink and going out.

Lidkid is your cup. As you answer, Lidkid walks across Sydney, and every hex it walks through goes on your map.

How do I play?

Choose where your walk starts, then answer the day's six questions.

The rarer your answer, the further Lidkid walks. An answer everyone gives moves you about 100 metres. One hardly anyone gives moves you about a kilometre.

How is an answer's rarity worked out?

By how many other players gave the same answer. Every answer lands on one of five levels: Good, Great, Incredible, Lidiculous and, rarest of all, Lidgendary.

What are the hexes?

Sydney is split into small hexagons. Every hex you walk through fills in with your colour and carries your emoji.

If another player walks through it after you, it's theirs until you walk it again.

When do new questions come out?

A fresh set of questions arrives every day at midnight, Sydney time.

Where in Sydney can I walk?

Anywhere in Greater Sydney: more than 880 suburbs, from the beaches to the bush. Walks follow real streets and parks.

Is Lidkid free?

Yes. Lidkid is free to play.

Do I need an account?

No. You can start walking straight away, and your map is saved on your phone.

To keep it safe, or to play on another device, open the menu and tap Keep your Sydney to save your map to your email or Google account.

Where did my emoji, callsign and colour come from?

They're dealt after your first walk: one emoji from hundreds, a two-word callsign and a colour for Lidkid. They're yours to keep. If someone had your emoji first, yours carries a small badge.

What are Casual walk and Zen mode?

Casual walk is practice: packs of questions you can play any time, without touching your map.

Zen mode is for winding down. Watch Lidkid stroll a Sydney street to lo-fi music.

Can I share my walk?

Yes. When you finish, share your day as text or as a picture. You can hide your answers for friends who haven't played yet.

What do you keep about me?

Your walks and answers, so your map and the day's rarity work. Answers are counted together with everyone else's.

We only ask for your email if you choose to save your map.
